12 questions psalm-1-2 banner

After you have read through a passage of Scripture several times, ask the following questions to help you meditate on God’s Word.

SIX OBSERVATION QUESTIONS

1. What does this passage teach about God or Christ?

2. What does it teach about human beings?

3. Are there examples to follow or avoid?

4. Are there commands to obey?

5. Are there promises to claim?

6. How is the meaning of the passage changed if I place a vocal emphasis on different words as I read?

SIX APPLICATION QUESTIONS

1. What are the radioactive verses, phrases, and ideas that seem to leap off the page and command my attention?

2. How would I be different if the truth of these verses was explosively alive in my innermost being?

3. Why is God showing me this particular truth today?

4. How is Jesus the ultimate example of this truth?

5. If a sin is revealed, ask yourself, “How is this sin being caused by my looking to someone or something to give me satisfaction that only Jesus can really give?”  What idols of my heart are revealed?

6. What do I need to do or become in order for these truths to come alive in my life?  Ask the Lord for it!
