OUR WORSHIP SERVICE PLAN HAS CHANGED

In light of the sudden COVID-19 spike in cases and hospitalizations that has occurred in San Antonio over the last few days, our resident medical expert, Dr. Eduardo Macias, cardiologist at UT Health, has advised us to suspend our plans to resume worship services indoors for the present time. Dr. Macias has indicated that outdoor services are still an option as long as social distancing is observed. Such services present a very low level of risk to those who are present.

Therefore, this Sunday, June 14, our pre-recorded Sunday morning service will be available online as usual, but we are once again offering an outdoor/drive-up service at 9:00 AM where people can stay in their cars or sit in chairs with social distancing in the shade under the trees outside of the FLC. NOTE THAT WE HAVE MOVED THE START TIME FOR THIS SERVICE TO 9:00 A.M. IN AN EFFORT TO BEAT THE HEAT ON SUNDAY MORNING! The music and message will be similar to the service which will be available online. It was great to see a number of you last Sunday! We look forward to seeing many of you again this Sunday! IN THE EVENT OF RAIN, THIS SERVICE WILL BE CANCELLED.

Please continue to pray for Dr. Macias and our church leaders as we continue to monitor this very fluid situation regarding the spread of COVID-19. We apologize for the sudden change in plans, but we are attempting to be responsible in protecting the health of our church family in light of the best medical advice. In the meanwhile, let us continue to "Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer" (Romans 12:12).

SUNDAY WORSHIP ONLINE

"Deep Counsel" (Selected verses from Lamentations)
Grieving people often have need of a counselor. The prophet Jeremiah takes on this role in the biblical book of Lamentations and points us ultimately to Jesus who is The Wonderful Counselor. In this final message in our series from Lamentations, we will examine the theme of "Deep Counsel: How Jesus Helps us to Pray and Hope."

Click on the link below to watch the worship service online. The link will be active on Sunday, June 14 by 10:30 a.m.!

Table Talk
Discussion questions for your family about today's message from God's Word.

1. How does a counselor typically help a grieving person? How does the author of Lamentations function as a counselor to the people of Jerusalem who are grieving the destruction of the Temple and their city and their way of life?

2. The Counselor in Lamentations weeps with the people and shares in their sufferings. How does this point us to Jesus in his role as the Wonderful Counselor?

3. The sympathetic Counselor in Lamentations speaks to God on behalf of grieving people who cannot yet bring themselves to pray. The Counselor's voice recedes in chapter 5 as the people finally begin to call out to God in prayer. Read Hebrews 4:15-16 with your family and discuss why Jesus can sympathize with our troubles and encourage us in prayer.
